Do you enjoy being involved in build, release, deployment, and configuration? Our Infrastructure team is expanding, and we are looking for a go-to person for all infrastructure-related matters.

Your role:

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you are responsible for the design and development for the infrastructure of our product of tomorrow and to safeguard our SLA’s for the product we have today. Meaning implementation of applications’ build, release, deployment, and configuration activities. Other responsibilities include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, architecting, implementing/updating solutions, building and executing test plans, performing quality reviews, managing operations, and triaging and fixing operational issues. You can be the go-to person in anything infrastructure-related and you like participating in our continuous process of upgrading our monitoring, deployment, provisioning, and scaling of our microservices ecosystem.

Your responsibilities:

Keeping our product in shape

  • Take great code written in various languages including Java and transform this into an efficient and robust executional code run in AWS
  • Make sure we keep our track record on our SLAs
  • Handle incidents and make sure the team learns from this to avoid it next time
  • Improve on our extensive monitoring (in DataDog/CloudWatch) in order to detect anomalies, intrusion attempts, identify performance bottlenecks and define monitoring alerts
  • Actively participate in R&D and supporting all technical teams (engineering, AI, 3 development teams) into making the best decisions in terms of tech used, infrastructure, deployment practices choices
  • Participate in making sure our CI/CD pipelines run as smooth as possible

Actively participate in the team’s culture

  • Communicate clear instructions to team members
  • Listen to team members' feedback
  • Monitor team members' participation to ensure the training they are being provided is being put into use, and also to see if any additional training is needed
  • Manage the flow of day-to-day operations

Support the organization

  • Work with Software Developers to reduce bugs, shorten development times and automate processes to allow Developers to spend more time on developing
  • Participate in architecture design sessions to safeguard the system architecture
  • Translate tech and engineering terms to the rest of the teams within Relay42.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience working in a professional product-driven environment. The candidate has previously designed infrastructure solutions for scalable, reliable, high availability, performance, security, software maintainability, and operational excellence. The candidate has a deep understanding of architecture and foresees and anticipates on changes and is also a good communicator along the way. The candidate encourages knowledge sharing.

  • Extensive background in developing and operating large-scale cloud-based distributed applications
  • Direct experience developing/running on AWS and you are well-versed in standard methodologies and patterns
  • Experience in monitoring tools like CloudWatch, DataDog, Splunk
  • Experience in designing infrastructure solutions for scalability, reliability, high availability, performance, security, software maintainability, and operational excellence
  • Knowledge to prioritize existing technical and infrastructure debt, and experience to build and execute a plan to pay it off
  • Ansible, Packer and generic Linux/Bash, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef (any or more is a plus)
  • Knowledge of development methodologies such as Scrum or KanBan
